The cover immediately drew me in with its soft colours and floral details, perfectly reflecting both Daisy's flower shop and the comforting atmosphere that has become synonymous with the Dream Harbor series.
Daisy has returned to Dream Harbor after a series of heartbreaks, determined to keep her family's flower shop alive. When rumours spread that the shop is cursed in love, business begins to suffer. Meanwhile, newcomer Elliot has his own reasons for avoiding relationships after his marriage fell apart. A fake relationship seems like the perfect solution to both of their problems, but in a town where everyone knows everyone else's business, keeping up appearances is never as simple as it sounds.
With every instalment, I fall a little more in love with Dream Harbor and its residents, and this might just be my favourite romance in the series so far. I've enjoyed every couple Laurie Gilmore has introduced, but Daisy and Elliot completely stole my heart. Their chemistry feels effortless, and watching their relationship grow from a mutually beneficial arrangement into something much more meaningful was an absolute joy.
The fake dating trope is handled brilliantly, creating plenty of funny misunderstandings while still allowing both characters to develop naturally. Elliot's quiet support for Daisy and the way he gradually falls first made their romance feel incredibly satisfying, while Daisy's vulnerability beneath her cheerful exterior gave the relationship real emotional depth.
I also loved the secondary storyline involving photographs from the 1920s that hint at a possible romance between Daisy's ancestor and one of Elliot's relatives. It added an extra layer of mystery to the story and had me just as invested in uncovering the truth as the characters themselves. It was a lovely addition that made the book feel richer than a straightforward romance.
As always, Dream Harbor itself is one of the biggest reasons I keep returning to this series. It is the perfect fictional small town, full of quirky residents who know everyone's business but genuinely care for one another. Seeing familiar faces continue to develop across the series makes every return feel like catching up with old friends, and I particularly enjoyed spending more time with characters such as Iris alongside the main story.
The pacing remains steady throughout, balancing romance, humour and heartfelt moments without ever feeling rushed. While this instalment felt just slightly less spicy than some of the earlier books, it never loses the warmth, charm and playful energy that define the series.
Cosy, funny and filled with heart, The Daisy Chain Flower Shop is another delightful addition to the Dream Harbor series. Whether you're discovering the town for the first time or returning to visit familiar faces, Laurie Gilmore once again proves why Dream Harbor is such an easy place to fall in love with.
