The Hot Honey Hideaway is a warm, cosy, and feel good book that delivers everything you want from a small town summer romance.
Set in the charming town of Maple Falls, this story follows Krista, who pours everything she has into running her café, The Hot Honey Hideaway. Her life is busy, structured, and centred around keeping her dream afloat, leaving little room for anything else, especially romance.
That is, until Joe arrives.
Joe is a travelling photographer, used to living life on the move without ever truly settling down. When he ends up working at Krista’s café, despite clearly struggling with the basics, their dynamic quickly becomes one of the highlights of the book. He brings an easy charm, while Krista is all focus and determination, and together they create a natural, engaging balance.
What really works here is the setting. Maple Falls is full of small town charm, with a strong sense of community that wraps around both Krista and Joe. As Joe begins to feel more at home, you can see the shift in his character, which adds a nice layer of emotional development to the story.
The romance itself is easy to get swept up in. There is clear chemistry between the characters, with plenty of lighter, fun moments alongside the more emotional beats. It has that cosy, comforting feel throughout, with just enough heat to keep things interesting.
The stakes around the café also add a bit of tension, giving the story something more to build around beyond the romance. It keeps things engaging without taking away from the overall feel good tone.
This is exactly the kind of book you reach for when you want something light, comforting, and easy to enjoy. If you love small town settings, café vibes, and romance with a bit of spice, this is a great pick!
Thank you to Jess and them team at Bookouture for sending out the fourth book in one of my favourite summer reads!
