Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the Press night for Disney's Aladdin at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford. A special thank you to Leanne for this invite.

Everyone knows the story of Aladdin, and it does not matter if you are young or old, the heartwarming story enchants you. From the moment the curtains rise, you are transported to the vibrant world of Agrabah, where magic carpets fly, and wishes really do come true.

The colorful staging is nothing short of spectacular. Each scene is a feast for the eyes, with dazzling sets that bring the bustling streets of Agrabah to life, from the lively marketplace to the palace. The use of colour throughout the show is brilliant, with rich, jewel-toned backdrops and props that perfectly complement the stunning costumes. The back drop of the cave with Aladdin and the Genie took my breath away.

The costumes are a true highlight of the production. The elaborate and vibrant outfits worn by the cast are works of art in themselves. They are a visual treat that enhances the overall magic of the show.

The true star of the evening was Yeukayi Ashe as the Genie. His performance was nothing short of five-star brilliance. Ashe brought an infectious energy and charisma to the role, commanding the stage with his every move. His comedic timing, powerful vocals, and larger-than-life presence had the audience laughing, cheering, and completely captivated from start to finish.

Another unforgettable moment was the breathtaking magic carpet ride during "A Whole New World." The chemistry between Aladdin and Jasmine was palpable as they soared above the stage, with the audience swept away by the beauty of the moment. The visual effects were seamless, creating a sense of wonder that made it feel as though we were flying right along with them. The iconic song was performed with such emotion and grace, making it a truly magical highlight of the show.

The Alhambra Theatre masterfully combines the rich historical ambiance with modern amenities, offering an ideal backdrop for any performance. The theatre's exceptional acoustics and clear viewing from every angle ensure that audiences can fully immerse themselves in the magic of the show, making each production truly shine.

Disney's Aladdin is on tour at the Alhambra Theatre from the 14th August until the 1st September 2024. Tickets are still available and you can buy your tickets here.
