I Think We Should Kill Other People is a sharp, darkly humorous thriller that blends reality television chaos with a locked room style murder mystery.

Fast paced, playful, and full of biting humour, it delivers an entertaining read that does not take itself too seriously.

The premise is immediately intriguing. Hazel and Marc meet on Love Synced, a revolutionary reality dating show where artificial intelligence is used to match couples who are supposedly perfect for one another.

Millions have watched their relationship unfold on screen, culminating in a televised wedding. But when the moment arrives, Hazel cannot go through with it. She leaves Marc at the altar in front of the cameras, humiliating him and enraging his wealthy, powerful family.

All Hazel wants to do now is get home and put the whole experience behind her. Instead, she finds herself stranded in a tiny airport during a severe snowstorm, trapped with Marc and his obnoxiously rich family while flights are indefinitely delayed.

What begins as an awkward and uncomfortable situation quickly escalates into something far more sinister when members of Marc’s family begin turning up dead.

The book cleverly combines elements of satire, thriller, and social commentary. The reality television angle adds a modern twist to the classic mystery setup, while the confined airport setting creates a sense of claustrophobia and escalating tension. As the body count rises, Hazel must navigate suspicion, family drama, and the lingering fallout from her televised decision.

Chilton’s humour is one of the book’s strongest elements. The tone remains witty and self aware throughout, balancing the darker aspects of the story with sharp observational comedy. Fans of the author’s previous books will likely recognise this distinctive style immediately.

The storyline itself feels refreshingly original. The combination of reality television culture, artificial intelligence matchmaking, and a snowstorm trapped mystery creates a scenario that feels both contemporary and entertaining. The pacing moves quickly, making the book an easy and engaging read.

I Think We Should Kill Other People is a fun, inventive thriller that mixes humour with mystery in a way that feels fresh and entertaining. With its unusual premise, witty tone, and steadily building tension, it makes for an enjoyable and distinctive crime read.
