This week, I was thrilled to receive a special delivery of book mail, all from the incredible Allison and Busby.
It's always exciting to get my hands on new reads, and these editions are stunning.
Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth:
Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth is a spellbinding, dark retelling of the Rapunzel fairytale, interwoven with history and myth.
The story weaves together the lives of three women—Charlotte-Rose de la Force, the exiled storyteller; Selena Leonelli, a Venetian muse haunted by time; and Margherita, locked away in a tower with her tangle of red-gold hair, searching for a way to escape.
Forsyth’s beautiful prose and rich, immersive storytelling transport you to another world, blending history and legend in a way that keeps you captivated from start to finish.
The book explores themes of fate, resilience, and the complexities of love, while taking you on an emotional journey through joy, sorrow, and hope.
A rare book that you’ll want to read slowly, savouring each moment, and yet one that will have you longing to reach the end to see how it all unfolds. If you love fairytales with depth, history, and magic, Bitter Greens is an unforgettable read.

Isolation Ward by Martine Bailey:
Isolation Ward by Martine Bailey is a dark, twisted thriller set in the Yorkshire moors of 1983, where Lorraine Quick is tasked with building a team at the notorious Windwell Asylum.
As she navigates her role in transforming the asylum into a top-security unit for dangerous criminals, she stumbles upon a brutal murder that shakes the institution to its core.
Bailey’s background in NHS personnel departments and psychometric testing brings an authenticity to the story, with the psychological depth of the characters and the tense atmosphere expertly crafted.
The haunting setting, combined with a chilling murder investigation and the arrival of a past flame, DS Diaz, adds layers of suspense and intrigue.
The book’s well-structured chapters make it easy to follow, though the story itself is anything but easy on the mind.
Isolation Ward is a dark and oppressive read that will keep you hooked, questioning everything until the very end. A must-read for fans of psychological thrillers that delve into the complexities of the human mind.
