Murder at 30,000 Feet is a fast paced, entertaining book that delivers a classic locked room mystery with a high altitude twist.
Set aboard Flight 868, what begins as a routine journey to a destination wedding quickly turns into chaos when a passenger is found murdered mid flight.
With nowhere to go and no way off the plane, it becomes clear that the killer is still on board.
The concept alone is instantly gripping. A confined setting, a mix of passengers with different backgrounds, and the added tension of being thousands of feet in the air creates the perfect setup for a mystery like this.
The cast of characters is varied and interesting, from a lively bridal party to a high school baseball team, alongside an air marshal and flight crew trying to maintain control.
The multiple perspectives work well to build intrigue. As the story unfolds, different threads begin to connect, and it becomes clear that there is more than one mystery at play. Alongside the central murder, there is also a cold case element, which adds another layer and keeps you guessing.
This is very much a book you need to go along with. There are moments where you have to suspend disbelief, but if you lean into the drama and the fast pacing, it becomes a really enjoyable read.
I managed to work out part of the mystery fairly early on, but there were still twists that caught me off guard, which kept things engaging right through to the end.
This is a fun, addictive read that is perfect if you enjoy playing detective and trying to piece everything together as you go.
